Alexander Wallace Rimington
The painter Alexander Wallace Rimington, wrote Colour-Music: The Art of Mobil Colour in 1911. Rimington patented his own color organ in 1893, and on June 6, 1895, gave a recital in St. James Hall, London, in front of a thousand people. The performance included the color organ playing with a piano, a regular organ, and an orchestra. Rimington gave four more concerts that year, performing on the color organ in accompaniment to compositions by Chopin, Bach, Wagner, and Dvorak. Audiences were apparently underwhelmed by the paucity of the spectacle, and Rimington received many poor reviews.
