Animator Kelly Gallagher, who combines stop-motion and cameraless techniques in her politically radical cinema, is one such artist. Gallagher’s films recuperate and showcase both feminist and Black social-justice pioneers, all the while attempting to demonstrate the time- bound virtues and material labor of handcrafted cinema to an audience immersed in late- era capitalism.
